Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon

Stop by The Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon, one of the most haunted buildings in Charleston. Since the late 1600s, the Exchange and Dungeon have existed in one form or another. Once a walled prison, it has been a haven for those seeking freedom as well as a dark and gruesome spot for prisoners caught on the wrong side of authority.

The reviews are right, this is the best tour in town. The “Death and Depravity” tour with Lance was incredibly entertaining and engaging, it hardly felt like 90 minutes. We could have gone all night (even though it was raining). Lance has a clear passion for local history and made sure everyone felt involved. He also made an effort to learn everyone’s names and ensure they knew how to get back to their car or hotel after the tour. The Death and Depravity tour was the highlight of my trip.
