Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon

Stop by The Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon, one of the most haunted buildings in Charleston. Since the late 1600s, the Exchange and Dungeon have existed in one form or another. Once a walled prison, it has been a haven for those seeking freedom as well as a dark and gruesome spot for prisoners caught on the wrong side of authority.

This tour is amazing! Our tour guide Lance was not only funny and personable, he was extremely knowledgable. There was not question he could not answer with extreme detail. He kept the tour feeling very personal, he even knew all our names by the end of the tour. We had so much fun that the hour and a half tour felt like no time at all, but I feel like even a three hour tour would have felt short because of all the good stories we heard.

Lance was awesome!! This was a fantastic tour of the dark history of Charleston! So much great information and Lance was a great storyteller! He read the audience and keep us on the edge of our seats! Great tour, highly recommend it!!

We thoroughly enjoyed learning about some of the history of the buildings in downtown Charleston. Our tour guide Lance was wonderful! You could hear him even with our big group of people. I enjoyed the aspect that it was all adults and no small children were allowed. I enjoyed walking the streets of downtown in the dark and learning about the different people Lance talked about. My boyfriend and I plan on doing another tour like this through the same company. As well as we are planning visits to some of the places we visited on our tour. Lance was an amazing tour guide who took the time to answer any questions we had. He didn't rush to get through. Lance 10/10 would come back just to talk to you and learn more things about what you know!
