There is a flat pier out to the boat and the boarding ramp is about 30 feet long. Travelers will board on the top deck and there are stairs to the lower level. Restrooms are located on the top deck.

Fort Sumter National Monument

While aboard the Carolina Belle your professional and licensed captain will narrate history, sights, and facts about the Charleston Harbor as you pass locations critical to United States history. You will get close-up views of the Holy City's most famous and charming sights such as Fort Sumter: One of Charleston's most popular landmarks, where the first shots of the Civil War were fired, USS Yorktown: the famous World War II “Fighting Lady," Confederate and Union army Forts Moultrie and Johnson, St. Michael’s Episcopal Church: A surviver of both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, whose steeple was painted black so as not to be an easy target, Stately homes on the Battery: Symbols of Southern elegance and perseverance.

Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge

You will also see the Cooper River Bridges, including the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge: A state of the art span that accommodates the largest ships in the world and connects downtown Charleston to Mount Pleasant. To add to this wonderful experience, don't be surprised if you see Dolphins skimming the surface of the water and pelicans diving for food.

The seven of us were first time Boston visitors to Charleston SC and took this harbor cruise, which I will admit was informative and relaxing. The Captain however, made more than one derogatory remark about the New England Patriots which we found offensive. He asked a couple of history questions to the guests on board and stated "If you don't know the answer, you can be like the Patriots and cheat". A second time he stated "If you can't beat em, cheat em"referring to the Patriots. The staff laughed along with the Captain and we got the impression this was not a first time the comments were made. We were offended and there were obviously others on board who were also offended by the amount of boos we heard after the comments. First bad review for me and first time I never tipped when on a sightseeing adventure.

The captain shared a lot of interesting history and details about Charleston, revolutionary through more contemporary history. I'm glad I took the tour but it was not one of the highlights of my stay.

Capt Andy was informative and had a good sense of humor. The boat is comfortable and there is drinks and snacks to purchase. Nice way to see Charleston.
