Charleston: Off The Beaten Path

Overview
Peace and quiet is what makes this tour special. We walk the streets in a less traveled part of the historic district passing beautiful gardens, stately homes, and visit the inside of two breathtaking churches. This is a part of the city missed by the average guest, and one that you surely wouldn't want to miss yourself.

St. Michael's Church
During the week we go into the church which has been standing longer than any other house of worship in the city, 1761. See three Tiffany stained glass windows, and the famous pew 43.
2
Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist
This is like walking into Europe. Without a doubt this is the most beautiful interior in the city.
3
Battery & White Point Gardens
Once an oyster bed known as White Point, this area was developed on landfill specifically for a park. It served as a battery of cannons during the Civil War and was also the site of the execution of Steve Bonnet, the Gentleman Pirate.

My sister and I visited Charleston for the day and decided to check out this tour since it looked pretty interesting. Our tour guide was very kind and extremely knowledgeable about all things Charleston. The Hidden Gems tour was really fun and it was exciting to get to learn some of Charleston history! I definitely recommend this tour!

We visited Charleston and took the Hidden Gems walking tour with Evans, who was an exceptional tour guide. We enjoyed hearing about all the history of the houses and people in the areas he took us to, which was truly off the beaten path and exactly what we were looking for. Evans was highly knowledgeable and you can tell he truly has a love for this city. He easily answered every question that we had, and even elaborated on plenty of additional information that we didn't know about either. If you are looking to learn about the Charleston area and see it by foot, this is highly recommended! We had such a great time while visiting and this sweetened the deal!
