Charleston Stand-Up Paddleboard Eco Tour

Overview
This 2-hour introductory paddle on the Edge of America will get you into the basics of SUP, all in the calm flatwater of the Folly River. All safaris begin with "ground school" or SUP instructions with your Lifeguard Certified Instructors. We'll explore alongside the numerous beautiful native birds and bottlenose dolphins. We'll go with the flow, following the tides and wind direction for a great beginning paddle. At low tide we visit a private beach and go for a swim!

Group photo is taken at the end of the tour, which will be posted on our social media pages.

From my first phone call which was for information only, I was impressed. I wanted to take my 12 year old grandson for a lesson. Instead, Ashley Ann recommended the 2 hour morning dolphin tour, explaining it included some instruction on land for about 20 minutes before actually getting on the SUP and into the water. I ended up taking Carter and his friend, Mikey, so they could share the fun. Their guides, Eric and Al, were patient and fun and let the boys have a good time. There were 8 people with 2 guides which was a safe ratio. Fortunately, we live in Charleston, so the boys will be doing this again. I've already recommended Chas SUP to many of my friends. Thanks for a good time!

In a day that had frequent rainstorms, the staff at SUP Safaris asked to change our schedule in order to have the best weather possible. It paid off as the tour was beautiful, despite the cloudy day. Our tour guide, Al, was a great instructor on how to use the stand-up paddle boards. Despite falling a couple of times, I felt like a pro in little time. Al was also incredibly knowledgeable regarding the biology of Folly River. The tour was a great time, we felt very knowledgeable after, and we came away with a great respect for Charleston, South Carolina. My wife and I would do this tour again in a heartbeat.

We've been curious about paddle boarding for a while, and our trip to Folly Beach seemed like the perfect chance to try it out. Everyone we spoke to recommended Charleston SUP and we couldn't have been in better hands! Eric and Ashley Anne were the perfect guides, accommodating to us beginners while making the trek fun and educational. I especially loved seeing the dolphins, who graced us with their presence. We can't wait to come back to Folly Beach and take another tour.
