A good tour guide knows all of the context for the sites, sounds and smells that they show - Chef Jacqui was a first-rate tour guide and went above and beyond, to the point where she told us the backstory of the concrete embossing on the South Philly sidewalks I asked. Our tour included amazing coffee at Anthony's, cheese and proscuitto at DiBruno's, the flat out best olive oil and balsamic vinegar we've had at the Taproom, San Ramon's tostadas and tortillas and VERY hot salsa, a stop into a pasta shop for some homemade mozzarella that will make you question any other cheese, lunch at Ralph's and pastry at Isgro. We left full of outstanding food and taste experiences but more than that, Jacqui gave us a feel for the neighborhood, the shops, how the community has progressed and expanded in the last 100 years, and explanations for everything. You know the feeling when you're with a friend who is really passionate about something, and they get you into the fold without being over the top? That was our morning in the Italian Market. It's also the only tour that operates every day, so if you want a little early in the week meat and cheese festivities, this is your choice.

Chef Jacquie is extremely knowledgable about the history of Philadelphiaā€™s Italian district and cuisine. I had a lovely morning visiting the shops with her and she was able to answer all of my questions! Being a gourmand and history buff, I was very impressed. It is clear she has taken the time to develop genuine friendships with the shop owners of the Italian Market and I came away with a full stomach, a better understanding of Philadelphiaā€™s history, and Italian cuisine.

Chef Jacquie was amazing. Even though we booked on a holiday she made sure we got to see and taste everything. If you love food and history I highly recommend this tour. I look forward to one of her dinner tours next! -Jared and Addie
