I specifically wanted the juxtaposition of Chinatown and Little Italy and found this tour the only one to accomplish that. Kelsey was fantastic. Since she is a chef she seemed to know everything about how to make the food and a lot of intricacies that made it very interesting. The day was beautiful weather and the walk was not very much. Many of us felt that the best part was we would now feel comfortable about where to eat when we are in the area. It was, as i said in the heading, one of the best tours we have ever taken.

This is a ā€œwalking and tastingā€ tour of Little Italy and Chinatown with quick stops at various interesting restaurants and delis. The idea is to give visitors a glance of the food culture of both Little Italy and Chinatown. The tour groups are small and the guides are very knowledgeable, which gives participants a lot of opportunities to have their own questions answered. With a cost of nearly $50, plus tip to the guide, this is not the cheapest ā€œattractionā€ in New York but I would still not consider it expensive, if you take part because of an interest in the neighbourhoodā€™s food culture and not because of hunger. You get to taste many different things, from italian ham and cheese to chinese dumplings and egg rolls, but each serving is quite small. It is therefore safe to say that the food is a small part of the cost and that you pay for the guide and the knowledge you gain, and you do learn a lot during this three-hour walking tour.

My husband and I took this tour through Little Italy and Chinatown with Alana as our tour guide. We loved every second and well worth the price. Perfect mix of history and food. Portion sizes were large enough, bigger than what I was expecting, and were included in the price. There was a sit down tasting half-way through the tour. It was a nice break, well timed, and not too long. Tastings included mozzarella, prosciutto, two other cheeses, cannoli, egg roll, dumpling, jasmine tea and two types of Thai noodles with rice. We had about 15 people in our group. No problems with hearing our guide even with a Chinese New Year parade going on.
