Adventure through Shell Key Preserve in your 100% clear kayak! See crystal-clear water, diverse marine life, and the underwater world below your clear kayak.

You’ll paddle along mangroves, enjoy white sand beaches and sandbars, and explore a secluded beach. If the tide is high, your guide will lead the way through a hidden mangrove tunnel. Shell Key Preserve is located in Tierra Verde, FL near St. Pete Beach in the Tampa Bay area.

Keep your eyes peeled for dolphins, manatees, pelicans, crabs, and more while enjoying the preserve’s picturesque mangroves, beaches, and sandbars. Be on the lookout for a manatee or the beautiful pink Roseate Spoonbills in the summer months. White Pelicans call the sandbars of Shell Key Preserve their home during the winter months! Throughout the year, dolphins frolic in the crystal-clear waters and cormorants love to swim alongside your kayak. Chances are that you’ll see a variety of wildlife, but sightings are random and not guaranteed.

My best friend and I and her two teenage sons did the two hour clear kayak paddle tour of shell key preserve with our fabulous tour guide Chris. We had a blast! The clear kayaks are so cool! There were jellyfish swimming all around us and so neat to see them through the clear kayaks! Chris was a great tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about the wildlife we encountered. He picked up snails and other critters and told us about them. He took us into the mangrove canopy which was super neat! He was great to take pictures for us and even send them to us the next day which was above and beyond at no extra charge. We enjoyed walking around Shell Key. Chris walked around with us and told us about the history of the island and took some more pictures. It was a beautiful day and we had so much fun! I would highly recommend this tour and Chris as your tour guide.

Great tour to experience the ecosystem of Shell Key preserve. Our tour guide Chris was very knowledgeable and passionate about the wildlife and estuary. It was awesome when he described a rare birds feeding ritual and the bird demonstrated perfectly how they feed on fish. Great way to enjoy the outdoors!
