Established in 1999, Encounters With Dolphins has been safely providing guests the opportunity to view dolphins, learn about Clearwater and enjoy the sand and sun on Compass Island and maybe even take a dip on the island! We are a veteran owned and operated small business founded on the principal of wanting our guests to have the same experiences we would want to have on our vacation! What To Expect

Clearwater Beach

Come join us on a fun filled, narrated sightseeing tour of Clearwater’s harbor. Enjoy a relaxing ride while you learn about our abundant wildlife, and view the area’s dolphins in their natural environment. Every trip stops at Compass Island where you can collect shells, swim, snorkel and the kids can even hunt for treasure! Excursions depart from the Clearwater Beach Marina multiple times every day. Spend an hour and a half to an hour and forty five minutes with our highly trained crew in the Clearwater Harbor on board our brand new 40 foot Coast Guard inspected excursion boat. For twenty to thirty minutes during your trip, the boat will stop at Compass Island where you will have the opportunity to shell hunt through thousands of shells, swim, snorkel (gear is provided) and enjoy the island.

This trip was AMAZING! First you got your pictures took with your group. The trip itself was so beautiful and it was very educational also. Entertaining trip will be returning.. so relaxing. Highly recommend and very affordable..

We saw a couple of dolphins from far away & another boat was making waves for the dolphins to jump in so we didn’t venture towards them, so didn’t get very close to them, so that was slightly disappointing!!… Also not “Encounters with dolphins” fault but the water at Compass point, wasn’t very clear to be able to snorkel in as sold to us on the website so our teens were left disappointed!!.. Lovely people that run it tho & very informative on the boat telling us about the area!!!..

Thank you for coming out with us! We love hearing from our guests so we can make the experience better for everyone! When other boats are pulling dolphins in their wake, it can be dangerous not only for us but the other boats as well to approach and interfere. Additionally, after being pulled, if another vessel would approach them they could become stressed. We try our best not to stress the animals which is why our Captain decided that watching them from afar was the best course of action. I'm sorry they didn't explain that better.
