Overview

A rare opportunity to see the ancient bond between man and bird. In a small group, you will interact with a variety of hawks, falcons and owls, learn their natural history and their differences, and see an unforgettable flying demonstration. The Beginners Experience culminates with a chance for you
to put on a glove and hold a trained falcon.

There is a licensed falconer who oversees and presents each experience. The birds engage only by their own will.

Deanna is absolutely brilliant; her knowledge is awe-inspiring; and, her relationship with her birds (and her dog) are equally awe-inspiring. The learning opportunity is immense for anyone who loves Nature, loves birds, and loves the sheer beauty and nobility of the raptors. Who could forget Ice Man, Maverick and Goose, not to mention the utterly stunning barn owl that is her personal animal and the most amazing up-close experience of watching a literally gigantic horned owl flying up close and personal. My wife and I have never been as impressed with any other similar experience as we were with this one. All we can do is express our gratitude for all that Deanna is doing to promote, save and help these noble and awesome creatures. They are as lucky to have her as we were to learn from her.

What a fabulous experience! I’ve always been curious about falconry, and this was a great introduction. Katy was our falconer, and we were impressed with her knowledge and comfort with the birds. We got to see an impressive set of birds - Harris’s hawks, Barn Owl, Eagle Owl (huge), a Hawk Eagle. Inside, we had the owls swooping over us (not in a scary way), close enough to feel the whoosh of air from their wings. Outside, we watched one of the hawks chase down some fake prey - they are fast and powerful! We ended with having a peregrine sit on our hand, so you do get to be up close and personal! Very informative, and fun.

What a uniquely exhilarating yet almost spiritual experience. I did the beginner and intermediate classes on consecutive days and would love to come back for more. Katie and Deanna, the falconers, provided a ton of information about the history and mechanics of their sport in a very relaxed and enjoyable way. Meeting each bird and learning about them was incredible, as was watching them interact with the falconers and holding one at the end of the beginner course. The pinnacle, of course, was the intermediate course; donning the glove, holding a nice chunk of raw meat and having several types of these magnificent birds fly to you and alight on your hand. Walking the path through the trees with the stunning mountains in the background while Goose the Harris’ Hawk swooped over and around our little group, occasionally landing on our gloves, was nothing short of magical. The classes are a nice length and allow you to enjoy the experience without feeling rushed in any way. Can’t say enough about how the falconers conducted these experiences, educating and amazing while taking tons of photos and videos for the guests. Worth every penny.
