Overview

A rare opportunity to see the ancient bond between man and bird. In a small group, you will interact with a variety of hawks, falcons and owls, learn their natural history and their differences, and see an unforgettable flying demonstration. The Beginners Experience culminates with a chance for you
to put on a glove and hold a trained falcon.

There is a licensed falconer who oversees and presents each experience. The birds engage only by their own will.

The Broadmoor Outfitters Falconry Class was the highlight of a fantastic week for my family. I was delightfully surprised at how interactive the experience was for us. Katie, our instructor, was incredibly passionate and knowledgeable, and we all learned so much from her. Even though I originally signed up for this class just so my young son could go, I would absolutely sign up again the next time we are at The Broadmoor. Thanks for a great afternoon full of memories!

This was a fantastic experience. We first were taken to a large enclosure where there were 5 birds. We were told about each bird and its unique qualities. We then went to a room where we were introduced to 2 owls. One large owl was flown right between us! We then went to the old golf course where they fly the birds. We strolled along the walkway as the hawk followed us back and forth between the trees and our guide. This hawk was then flown between us and we even got a "tail bump". It was cool to watch him come in for a landing right above our heads. We then went back to the parking lot where we each got to hold a Lenner Falcon. It was a really beautiful bird and it this particular one liked to have its chest rubbed so of course we obliged. We were lucky enough to be the only 2 in this particular class which made it extra special. I highly recommend this experience!

The Falconry Class and Demonstration is a must do experience at Broadmoor Outfitters. Our instructor (Roger) was extremely personable, very informative, and created a wonderful experience for us. Learning about the various Owls, Falcons and Hawks was great, as was putting on the glove and having a Falcon on your arm. The walking demonstration of hunting with a Hawk was quite the experience. Do not miss this class.
