We visited in July, 2014. It is very easy to book the tours of Stan Stephens Cruises on the Internet. All of the staff are very friendly. The price is reasonable. If you don't like too many crowds of tourists gathering and departing from Whittier, it is Stan Stephens Cruises in Valdez that you should take into consideration. Lunch on cruise is included. In addition to the Columbia Glacier, you may spot sea otters, bald eagles, whales etc. What an exciting experience! So close to Mother Nature...

We have been on several wildlife and glacier excursions in Alaska and I must say this was the best ever. Captain Chris and his crew did an excellent job in pointing out the whales, Eagles, sea otters, mountain goals and other wild life as we cruised from Valdez to the Columbia Glacier. The floating ice near the glacier was a major obstacle but he got us within .25 miles of the face of the glacier just as it was calving. What a sight and sound! We were served delicious chowder and an adventure was had by all onboard!

My wife and I really enjoyed the Columbia Glacier cruise with Stan Stephens. The captain was very informative and did not over talk during the cruise so we could really enjoy the ride. He got us up close to the glacier and we were able to see and hear calving actually taking place. This 6 hour cruise was breathtaking with lots of wildlife spotted including breaching humpbacks. Perfect way to spend our time in the Valdez area.
