Comb Jelly Bioluminescence Kayak Tour

Overview
In the cooler Florida months, bioluminescent Comb Jellies congregate in the protected waters of the Indian River Lagoon. Living in the most bio-diverse estuary in North America, Comb Jellies are clear, glob-like creatures that, despite their name, do not sting! So as you paddle the calm waters laced with mangroves and palm trees, you can catch and hold these gentle glowing creatures. They're right at your fingertips while having a safe, awe-inspiring kayak adventure with those who share your enthusiasm for new and unique experiences.

In addition to the stars, the myriad of protected wildlife around you, and the Comb Jelly’s bioluminescence, their “ribs” are lined with cilia that they use to propel themselves, so when you cast a flashlight on them just right, they’ll also refract a dynamic rainbow-y light show! They’re right at your fingertips while having a safe, awe-inspiring kayak adventure with those who share your enthusiasm for unique experiences.

I really enjoyed the comb jelly experience! I caught a “chunker” or “chunky boy” as Sunny and Brandy would call them and I got to hold it and seen it’s beautiful glow! So I had the BEST experience with Sunny and Brandy here in Florida❤️ (I’m from Oklahoma so this was extremely new and experimental to me) Sunny was quirky(like me) and she was a champ staying behind with me and and my sister because we kept getting too far behind because we just sucked at rowing🥴🤣 Brandy was wonderful and very sweet even when we let bumping into her lol You can tell they both LOVE what they do! You can catch and hold comb jellies(which it’s harmless to hold them and they won’t harm you either) and it was just the best🤍

The great experience was led by kind John; he gave us all tools and information needed to be safe and have a unique tour around Mosquito Lake.

Me and my boyfriend went on the sunset kayak tour 5/21. It was amazing! Our tour guide was Ari and she went above and beyond to make sure we had a great kayaking experience. She was knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife we were seeing. She even caught the bioluminescent comb jellies in jars so we could see them better and play with them! We saw manatees, dolphins that were literally 2 feet from our kayak, and also were lucky enough to see the bioluminescent dinoflagellates once it got darker. We saw so much wildlife, it was an unforgettable experience.
