Weight Restrictions: Due to FAA regulations, all passengers must be weighed at check-in. For each passenger weighing 240 pounds or more, or combined weights of 420 lbs per couple, an additional seat must be purchased at time of booking. This is for the safety and comfort of all passengers. It is important to provide accurate body weight at checkout.
It is recommend that all passengers wear dark clothing to help have less reflection in the windows when flying and therefore you can get better photos during your tour
All passenger weights MUST be advised at time of booking. Under representation of body weight may result in cancellation at check-in with no refund.
Not wheelchair accessible. There is no wheelchair lift to accommodate wheelchair passengers nor can the staff personally/physically assist people into the helicopter
Flight routes & sights may vary due to weather.
Infants under 24 months must sit on an adult lap. PLEASE CONTACT AIR MAUI IF BRINGING AN INFANT. Over 24 months must occupy their own paid seat. We follow the same FAA regulations as the airlines.

What To Expect

Air Maui Helicopter Tours

Make your way to Kahului Heliport and hop aboard a luxury, air-conditioned helicopter, which holds six passengers in forward-facing leather seats. Once you’re airborne, sit back and listen to stereo music and descriptive narration from the professional pilot, who also serves as your tour guide.

Haleakala Crater

Throughout the 1-hour flight, enjoy unobstructed views while you soar above Maui’s extreme landscapes, including the dense Hana Rainforest of East Maui. Look down on waterfalls and the jaw-dropping Haleakala Crater, a dormant volcano with a summit reaching more than 10,000 feet (3,050 meters) above sea level in Haleakala National Park.

After these sights, your flight continues to the West Maui Mountains, aka West Maui Volcano or Maui Komohana to native Hawaiians, best seen from the air. Snap photos of the diverse landscape including rugged lava flows, rainforest and deep valleys filled with cascading waterfalls such as the ‘Wall of Tears,’ a cliff draped with dozens of falls.

We picked (well actually got lucky) a great day for flight this week and got to see some incredible views of the island. The staff made checkin quick and easy, the flight was smooth, our pilot was very friendly and chatty and made the flight informative and comfortable. The only real knock we had about the experience was that we had chosen the full island tour and really didn’t see the whole island? Some key points were pointed out at a distance and other than the tops of the volcanos and some great waterfalls we didn’t see much of the settlements around the coastline which we were hoping to to put in perspective to the island and the volcanos.... Almost forgot, don’t forget to pay for parking right as you come in (it’s not makes very clearly) as you need to pay to park and we didn’t find out until we were almost boarding!

Mahalo for the review and feedback. On the tours the pilot do try their best to cover areas that cannot be seen by foot or car therefore more in the mountains and valleys that are inaccessible otherwise. The coastline is covered here and there but if the weather is clear we would rather show you more areas that you couldn't otherwise drive too. As for the parking... that has been an ongoing battle with the parking company and the airport division that we are currently trying to resolve and make more clear so believe me we understand this frustration with the horrible signage. That said we do appreciate the feedback and thank you again for choosing to fly with us. Aloha!

We originally were slated for the complete island tour, but due to weather we also did Moloka‘i. Honestly, the ranges in Moloka‘i are amazing and fully recommend that. It's all amazing, don't get me wrong, but it's special. Our pilot was Richie, and we had a great time with him as our guide. Plenty of personal experiences which made the trip even better. They have a video of the flight for sale... do it. Also, we got a great rate via Costco, so I recommend that. I'm looking forward to another trip out so we can do doors off! Thanks, Air Maui, you made our trip even more memorable!!

I'm really happy with the tour we chose, Cameron was our pilot and it was amazing seeing all of Maui from Haleakala, to Hana, to the Northern Valleys. It was my first time to Maui and my Mom's first helicopter ride so it was the perfect way to experience Maui and soak it all in! Cameron was a great pilot and knew so much about the island and was able to point out a lot on the tour. We were amazed by the waterfalls and valleys. Air Maui was very well organized and friendly, I highly recommend a helicopter ride while on Maui!
