The family and I visited Austin for a Texas vacation. This tour was loads of fun. We met under the overpass and kayaked on the river and Ladybird Lake. As the sun was setting, there were great views of the Austin skyline. We kayaked all the way to the bay bridge and waited for dusk. The bats sure enough came out. It wasn’t a whole colony of millions but we saw quite a bit of them. It was very cool.
The most memorable part was the thunderstorm rolling in. As darkness settled, we kayaked back to where we launched and lighting was shooting horizontally in the sky, lighting our way on the water. We got back to shore right when it started raining and as we were reminiscing about the fun tour, we were caught in the biggest thunderstorm I’ve ever experienced. There were large sized hail falling and we had to seek some cover while it passed on the way back to the hotel.
Overall, it was a great tour and the bats and thunderstorm made it even more memorable. I would totally recommend this tour!
