Guide was good - spoke perfect English, very friendly & knowledgeable. However, when I booked tour I was lead to believe you would have time to shop especially if museum was closed so I purposely picked Monday when the museum is closed. There was only 1 other person on tour w/ us, but seems she didn't want any shopping & also wanted to go back early so that didn't help matters. So tour guide briefs you on the history & cultural significance of Tijuana as he guides you around - which is nice. We stopped at a coffee shop in an empty mall (clearly a friend of tour guide), but none of us drank coffee so we just sat around while guy got a coffee & chatted w/ girl. Next stop tacos which we all enjoyed. Then beer stop which non us drank beer so we sat around while tour guy drank beer sample & chatted w/ some guy. Lastly "shopping" - We had the opportunity to shop in 2 stores which were totally sucky stores & clearly kick back stores. There were 2 shops that we passed a long the way that I saw exactly what I was looking for in window. However, tour guide told me I'd have plenty of time to shop & I would see what I wanted - total joke. Anyways, tour wasn't "bad," but for our group we could have skipped the coffee & beer since the 3 of us didn't drink & could have also skipped the sucky 2 designated shopping stores since no one was interested in & instead I could have run in grabbed items in 2 stores I wanted to go to & other person could have been happy too since she wanted tour to be shorter.

We met in front of McDonald's by the U.S. border. A few days before our trip I got an email that says there was going to be 5 more people joining our group making a total of 7. I got a text a few minutes before our 1PM start that Lucia was going to be our tour guide. When 1PM arrived, we met with Lucia and was told we were the only 2 people in our group. This was a relief to us because with more people, there would have been more preferences of where to go so basically with just the two of us, it was just like a private tour with Lucy. She walked us across the border and said she lives in Tijuana and has been a tour guide with Border Tours for about 6 months. She was very knowledgeable about her home town and we found her very pleasant, accommodating, and professional. We were very apprehensive about going into Tijuana because of the bad press. She said don't believe all the hype and dire warnings. We felt very safe with her walking around town. Lucy asked us what our interest were and what we want to do. My husband loves history and culture of the Mexican people so that is what we did. We went downtown Tijuana and walked through the market square, visited the Church of the Virgin Guadalupe, taco tastings, rattle snake tequila drinking, the cultural center where Day of the Death was celebrating and there was band playing, and other sites. At the end of the day, Lucy took us back to the border to say our good-byes. Lucy was also very humorous, attentive, and we thoroughly enjoyed her company. I would definitely recommend her as your guide if you want to take a trip to Tijuana. We would certainly ask for her again.
