As well, you'll be accompanied by a guide well-versed in the area History, Flora & Fauna and geologic formation of the Great lakes and Dune formations. Sleeping Bear is fantastic in and of itself, but having a guide to explain everything from the Native Tribes that once roamed the area, to the geologic forces that leave us with the Great Lakes we know today, greatly enhances ours guests visit to Sleeping Bear. Oh, and guests rave about our catered lunch. It's delicious!

Walking is required to access the vista at Empire Bluffs. The trail is designated as "Easy". Expect to walk 1.5 miles over a dirt and sand Trail.

A guided tour of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Tour includes round trip transportation from Traverse City with snacks and drinks provided. Stops include an easy walk out to Empire Bluffs, Scenic Pierce Stocking Drive, Lake Michigan overlook, Glen Lke overlook, Sleeping Bear Dune overlook, Lunch on the beach in the village of Empire, Dune Climb, Historic Village of Glen Haven and Glen Arbor.

Matt was an amazing tour guide! He was very knowledgeable. Matt was so considerate of everyone on our tour. We had plenty of beverages and snacks! The lunch was very good!

We just spent a full day doing the SLEEPING BEAR DUNES NATIONAL LAKESHORE. Our Guide- Matt - was SO Superb! Matt's knowledge of the History of this area- not only the various settlers/human habitation, but also the geological history, the botanical history, the animal history - and also the trade and controlling colonial history and even recent history is ABSOLUTELY amazing11 Matt brings every aspect of the impacts of this area to life- and helps participants to understand - and appreciate - every part! Matt offers fun questions - and includes the participants in every step! Great photo ops - he knows the perfect spots/ angles. Lunch - included - is also AMAZING - healthy - and delicious - and fresh! The van was also packed with lots of cold beverages in a cooler and plenty of snacks to keep everyone going. We booked a private tour for the 8 of us. It was perfect! Definitely felt it was worth the price - and we had experienced hikers, climbers, and travelers in our group of 3 generations I highly recommend Up North Tours for an very enjoyable day in the Traverse City area- and if you have more time- book a second day to include wineries, or other sporting activities here! Having had over 46 years in the tourism industry, I can say that Matt and this operation rank in the TOP of professionalism and and integrity. Of the hundreds of guides and oprators I have hired all over the world, This is a TOP NOTCH operation!
