Daufuskie Island
It begins with a boat ride from Shelter Cove Marina to the back side of Daufuskie Island. The ride is an important part of the tour! Along the way we will stop for dolphins and other wildlife, plus view and discuss the sites on Daufuskie and the neighboring islands that are best seen from the water. Once on Daufuskie, you'll get on golf carts and take a tour of the historic, undeveloped side of the island. We stop at all of the significant historic sites and artisan shops of Daufuskie.

We had a wonderful afternoon with Captain Pete. The boat ride over to Daufuskie Island was lovely. He pointed out a lot of interesting sites and told us all about the history of the area. We even saw a dolphins. I can’t imagine touring Daufuskie Island without a guide. He knew exactly where to take us and educated us all about the history of this island. It was fascinating to see the school house where Pat Conroy taught and change the lives of several of the children on the island. I highly recommend this trip! As the time does not appear to be listed on the website, it leaves at 12 o’clock from the kiosk at the marina. I would also recommend bringing jackets as it is much cooler on the water than it is on land. Make sure to wear sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses.

Our captain and guide Pete, was a wealth of knowledge and very friendly. Meet at the marina and expect a 1.5 hour boat ride to the island with an hour ride back.
