Leaving from Hilton Head, it takes about 45 minutes to enter slow-paced, beautiful, and historic Daufuskie Island. Our captain/guide was outstanding. He knew how to skillfully maneuver our boat & we were lucky enough to see a dolphin. We saw the local church, the school house where Pat Conroy taught , but is now an indigo business. We also visited a metal art gallery & a potterā€™s business. However, the best attraction is the beauty & wildness of the isolated island. Well worth the trip!

We got more than we expected from this excursion. Our guide Peter B., took four of us to the island stopping often to point out landmarks and giving us great historical content for area. We came to a narrow passage where we stopped for a few minutes. Like magic we were surrounded by dolphins and our Captain explained how to tell they were females both by coloring and behavior. On the island we travelled with our guide on a golf cart. The whole tour was fantastic as was our guide. It was not truly an accessible trip. Getting in and out of the boat may be a challenge to someone with disabilities and several of the stops had stairs but no ramp. For a 4.5 hour trip, there is one restroom stop about 2 hours into the trip and there were only stairs no ramp to take advantage of the facilities. I still give it 5 stars because everyone and every part of the trip was enjoyable.

We appreciate your feedback, Linda and will certainly discuss the accessibility aspect of the trip! Sounds like a wonderful time exploring and learning about the historic island and the unique ecosystem that calls the Lowcountry home. Captain Pete certainly has a wealth of knowledge on Daufuskie Island and the surrounding area. Thank you for getting outside with us!

What a great experience! J.O. Was a fantastic Captain/Guide on our trip. We met Miss Pat and were able to experience the chili cook off (my favorite was the alligator chili). We stopped and visited several artisans along the way. It was a beautiful day and a great trip! One thing I would recommend is that you bring extra cash for items you may want to buy.
