What To Expect

Charleston City Market

Our Barn is located just off of the Charleston City Market. You will meet your certified tour guide here and then you will depart on your hour long horse or mule drawn carriage tour. The carriage will go through the City gate at the market where the tour guide is assigned a tour route. You will see about 30 blocks of the historic district which will include beautiful architecture, churches, buildings, gardens and more. The tour returns to the Big Red Barn.

Our tour guide had a Great personality. He was very knowledgeable and we had Tom and Jerry for our horses. For an hour tour we took in a lot. We would certainly take this tour again.

Wife and I booked this after stopping here on a cruise. We originally had a 9 am your but realized we were going to be late. Called the office, no problem, they got us on the 10 am. Tour started at 9:45, pulled by two mules, Uber and Lyft. Our female guide was excellent, knew her stuff, certified thru the city. I only wish we could have explored and taken more pics but realize it was an hour tour and they had others waiting. Great tour, made more interesting for us by the carriage and draft animals. I will also mention that they take too notch care for these animals. I highly recommend this expert for a good overview of a beautiful historic city

Palmetto Carriage Works was a great way to learn more about the wonderful city of Charleston. Our guide, Matthew, was very knowledgeable about its history. I also love how the horses and mules are so well cared for. I highly recommend!
