Overview
Join us for a one-hour guided tour of J. Rieger & Co., Kansas City’s iconic distillery, located in the historic Electric Park neighborhood of the East Bottoms district. Discover the history of our brand, from its founding during the wild and raucous years when the city boasted “the wettest block in the world”, to its premature demise at the dawn of Prohibition, and eventual revival in 2014, nearly a century later.

Enjoy extensive access to each phase of the distillation process, from grain to bottle. The tour will conclude with a tasting of our four core products led by one of our knowledgeable guides.

We recently did a tour at J. Reiger & Co. It was a most enjoyable experience! There is an amazing display of the of the history of the whiskey business in the Kansas City area and the role of Reigers in this historical time! Our tour was very informative and the guide was fun, well versed in the history of the area and the process of how Reiger's distilling process works and the extra attention to details they take to assure a quality product. She readily answered our questions. The tasting afterwards was very interesting and fun! I highly recommend you go upstairs before or after the tour to see the distillery floor from above and enjoy some awesome cocktails! The staff throughout the building were very accessible and friendly! The design of the building is impressive! And one final thing....you must go down the slide from level 2 to Level 1. Such fun and a real sense of accomplishment for this "older senior citizen"! Enjoy the experience! I would recommend you make a reservation before your visit if possible!

Started out with an 11:00 tour and tasting. So much KC history in the intro film we had no idea about..and so very happy to have people investing in the history of our City and resurrecting the Rieger Family business that was destroyed by prohibition. This building has been beautifully renovated preserving as much of the original character as possible, and an excellent event space! We had lunch after the tasting, and it was fantastic and we all enjoyed our selections. They have an excellent ‘museum/history’ board area, so come early and take it in before the alcohol kicks in! Don’t avoid the giant slide..so much fun. We will be back!

J Reiger & Company Distillery tour was interesting and informative. The history displays had lots of information and photos as well as artifacts of the original distillery and a 1900’s companion brewery which now houses the distillery. The tour was well paced, easily traveled, and explanations understandable. The machinery and ‘product’ were in operation but out of reach of the tour group. The tour was completed by having the tour participants taste 4 different products. The tasting highlighted the ingredients added to the process and made each unique. All in all a good time and worthwhile.
