Distillery Tour

Overview
Join us for a one-hour guided tour of J. Rieger & Co., Kansas City’s iconic distillery, located in the historic Electric Park neighborhood of the East Bottoms district. Discover the history of our brand, from its founding during the wild and raucous years when the city boasted “the wettest block in the world”, to its premature demise at the dawn of Prohibition, and eventual revival in 2014, nearly a century later.

Enjoy extensive access to each phase of the distillation process, from grain to bottle. The tour will conclude with a tasting of our four core products led by one of our knowledgeable guides.

Visited @jriegerco for the first time and was blown away. 🥂 The space itself is beautiful; it used to be the Heim Brewing bottling house and they have done a great job preserving the history of the location. Upstairs is the Monogram Lounge which is spacious, inviting and a wonderful gathering spot! Lots of tables, booths, even shuffleboard. The cocktails are tailored to highlight the liquor while maintaining a delicious balance of flavor. My personal favorite was the Comber (vodka) and the Invisible Gin (obvs gin). The best part of the distillery? The slide to exit! 😄 You CAN take the stairs back down but come on, how often do you get to go down a slide as an adult??

We did a 2PM tour with 8 friends. The curated KC history is great. Visitors and KC locals can all enjoy. Make sure you wear closed toed shoes or you will be punished and forced to wear Crocs! The tour leader was knowledgable, gregarious and very enthusiastic. The tour is not lengthy but gives a snap shot of the distilling processes. We will bring visitors when the opportunity presents itself. The tasting was very informative. I normally avoid gin but I picked a gin cocktail after the tasting. We did get a sneak preview of The Hey Hey Club. We will definitely be there once it opens. It is a very cool and inviting place. Nothing on this tour is intimidating even for a novice drinker. The food and service at The Mongram Lounge was spot on and reasonably priced. Every single team member we encountered was happy and friendly. When whiskey is your job why would you be sad? The slide is is a must. Great visit!

This is a pretty cool little spot. The tour is interesting and informative and doesn’t take a great deal of time. We did the evening tour which was $15 a person which seemed expensive until the end when you get to the tasting portion of the tour. Our guide was great at his job and had tons of information to share. The bar upstairs serves a wide variety of drinks and some food options and is just a cool space to hang out in. They have a pretty epic slide that takes you from the upstairs bar to the main level which is so much fun. Very cool place and a great way to spend and evening!
