This is an excellent way to spend an afternoon. Not only did we learn about brewing processes, we also saw how it was done. Plus we tasted some amazing and unique beers. Our guide was very knowledgeable about beer plus he was very kind and got me a chair due to the fact I was having difficulty standing and walking (back problems! Not due to the beer!) We saw 3 interesting breweries and learned about their history and what they make today. We tasted lots of different beers at each brewery. The pace of the tour is relaxed. The small size of the group was excellent. We plan to do this trip again (different breweries) as soon as possible. Asheville is beautiful and we also learned about the city.

How much do locals in Asheville love beer? Well, apparently, so much that the city boasts roughly 100 local beers in town. Served on both draft and in bottles. Thatā€™s actually more breweries per capita than any city in the U.S. So without batting an eyelash, we knew we had to do a legit Asheville Brewery Tour. And glad we took one with the BREW-ed team! It's about a 2 hour tour in 2 locations (meetup in Hi-Wire and end up in Catawba Brewing). Our guide, Cliff, was obviously very knowledgable about all that needs to be learned about beer. He was prompt, courteous, and even gave extra tips on local bars and restaurants to try in Asheville. Just wonderful! We later on found out that BREW-ed Asheville Brewery Tour is the cityā€™s only expert led brewery tour. In fact, itā€™s recognized as one of the top 15 food tours in the world. Overall worth the money! Just a pro-tip: We loved that the tour was generous with the servings of the beer, pouring samples everytime a new type is discussed. But I do recommend anyone taking the tour to have a decent amount of lunch or snacks beforehand and the drinking spills into dinner time (no picas/snacks served during the tour). :)

Cliff was incredibly knowledgeable about the details of the beer brewing process, how consumers should drink and evaluate beer, and the history of each brewery as well as some fun historical facts of Asheville itself! He is very personable and kind as well. Definitely recommend if you are looking to learn more about craft beer!
