We greatly enjoyed our Culinary Tour in Charleston this evening. Three restaurants, with three tasting dishes at each. Followed by a fourth for dessert. The walking between locations was leisurely, and a reasonable distance. At each new location, we were seated immediately and the food service started quickly. Shrimp and grits, pork sliders, and lightly cooked oysters were the highlights (for me) of each individual plate, and they were served with two other wonderful southern selections.
Possibly the better part of the experience was our guide, "Hoon" Calhoun. Words to describe Mr. Calhoun would include humorous, informative, concerned about his "charges" and genuinely a pleasure to be around. He seemed to be the type of person who wanted to impart the charm and the history of his city to guests. And I believe that he succeeded.
I would definitely recommend this experience if you like food, history, and wandering through a wonderful city.
