The 2.5-hour Downtown Charleston Culinary Tour visits four different food establishments and combines elements of a historical tour with a culinary adventure! Learn about Charleston's history as you enjoy tastings of traditional favorites and contemporary innovations, all of which highlight the cuisine of locally-owned restaurants. Insight into Lowcountry cuisine accompanies the broad range of samples on your food tour. This is our original tour around the French Quarter and City Market and focuses on the traditional flavors of the region.

What To Expect

Charleston

After meeting your foodie guide at the first restaurant location in downtown Charleston, you will begin your walking tour and visit 3-4 restaurants, where you'll sample dishes at each, and then a final stop for dessert. Each visit lasts 20 to 30 minutes, and you'll be seated to rest your legs. For most people, the amount of food served is enough for a meal. As you enjoy walking through this historical section of the city, listen to stories about Charleston's culture and cuisine from your guide, who points out landmarks along your route. This wonderful experience will end within walking distance of your starting point. *Please advise about Allergies in the ( Special Requirements section) during check out! *Dietary restrictions need to be communicated at least 24 hours in advance to be accommodated *Unfortunately we can not accommodate Vegan, Dairy Free or Soy Free diets

We enjoyed the Charleston Culinary Tour with a group of ten diners including ourselves. We visited four restaurants starting with Poogans and ending at Kaminski's for dessert. Our guide, was a well-informed Charleston native who shared interesting food lore as well as history. It was tough to hear all the good information with conversations going on around the table but we enjoyed the activity and meeting the other diners. The food itself was good, not five star. While the tour advertises that it accommodates vegetarians, the stop at Poogans didn't offer anything that was actually vegetarian. The second stop had three great vegetable dishes which made up or the bust at Poogans.

This is a really great tour. We tried four really different and delicious restaurants,Our guide Mimi knew so much Charleston history as well as a knowledge and passion for southern food and Charleston restaurants. We got to try a nice variety of dishes, this was a wonderful couple of hours for me and my kids. I highly recommend this tour.

We started the tour at Poogan’s Smokehouse. We met our guide Patrick who seemed to be quite a foodie. We were served some delicious cornbread with bacon butter as our appetizer. Then we were served pulled pork sliders and fried pimento cheese fritters. The food was delicious. Then we moved on to Paw Paw’s restaurant where we were served 3 fabulous appetizers, truffle fries, crispy spicy sprouts and hush puppies. This is when we found out that Patrick really knew his Charleston history in addition to knowing about food. We found him very engaging and entertaining. Then we moved on to the next restaurant which was Eli’s Table. They served us what seemed like more than a full meal of shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles and sweet potato pancakes. OMG, it was amazing but we were so full. Lastly we moved on to Toast for dessert. That was the weakest link for us. We received three tiny samples of key lime pie, lemon cake and chocolate crumble cake. The chocolate cake was dry so it was easy to leave it. Other desserts were good and we were glad the servings were small. Service was great everywhere and the group was friendly as we ate our way across town. Patrick was an excellent guide and we really enjoyed this tour.
