Imagine a fraternity with a bunch of Brit Lit and Theater majors. Now imagine their frat party. That was Drunk Shakespeare. We laughed our asses off. And what’s funny is that I feel like I understand MacBeth better than ever before.

I teach British Literature: this was a must do for me. Theater entrance was a little suspect, but the cast was engaging, welcoming and hilarious from the start! They acted out McBeth (probably because it’s short, easy to understand and the AC in the theater wasn’t working) The entire cast is extremely talented - they did a phenomenal job of going back and forth from Lines of the play to carrying out modern dialogue for anyone to understand. On top of dealing with an obnoxiously drunk cast member who drinks in front of you during duration of the show. Cocktails were great and Josh the main host is hilarious, despite his fading hairline. Don’t miss this show, it was the best part of our trip; go see it and laugh your socks off.

I love the whole concept. A small company of extremely versatile actors perform Shakespeare in the round (where here, "the round" means a tiny runway space in the midst of an audience intimate enough where the actors can remember most everyone's name) while one of their number is drunk. Grab a drink, mingle with your fellow audience members and the cast, and then the fun begins. Your drunk cast member is introduced, plied with booze, and off they go. The space is cozy but not claustrophobic. It's ridiculous, and hilarious and if you have the type of friends who quote back things that amuse them for months on end, they're about to pick up a catch phrase or two. Shakespeare was meant to be immersive in the first place. Pretty sure Bill Shakes would approve.
