My wife and I booked a 2 hour float trip in Haines during our 12 day Alaska trip. We were the only two people on our particular day and got an unexpected VIP trip with Andy, the owner. The trip was beautiful with wildlife abound -- so many bald eagles! It was so scenic and relaxing. Andy was nothing but professional, friendly, and very knowledgable about the entire area. If you are going to visit Haines this is the company to talk to! PS -- They put together a nice smoked salmon picnic at the end of the trip which was such a nice treat.

Took our family of four, two kids ages 11 and 9, out on the eagle preserve rafting trip with our guide Liz. The trip is wonderful. They will come into town to pick you up for the trip. Our guide was full of knowledge about the area, river, history, eagles, and any question you could possibly ask her. She was great with the kids and kept all of us engaged for the entire trip. The eagle sightings were abundant the day we went and the scenery is gorgeous. The river changes dramatically over the course of the float trip and looks nothing like anything I have ever floated before. It's not whitewater, but it is fast moving and entertaining. The stars of the show are the eagles and never ending mountain views. The water is cold, about 36 degrees and it can be pretty windy so prepare to dress in layers for warmth, as the wind blowing across the water gets cold. Hats and gloves were needed the day we were there. Hats we had, they were nice enough to have back up gloves for us. Wear good wool or warm socks and the rubber boots they provide will do a nice job keeping your feet warm. After the trip they have a nice snack of smoked salmon waiting along with granola bars, trail mix and hot chocolate, coffee or tea. It was a lovely ending to a super fun morning of being on the river. Highly recommend, great outfitter.

We are travelling independently , so based on reviews booked a float trip with Haines rafting, and we're really glad we did. There was just the three of us which was great . We met up with Andy, driven around 25 miles, and then the raft was put in the river and we were expertly manoeuvred back to the exit point. Andy was an informative and competent guide. We sat back and enjoyed the beautiful scenery and many Eagles, sadly no bears! After we landed we had a snack including salmon, crackers, and hot drinks . What's not to like!!
