Egmont Key Ferry from Ft. DeSoto in Tierra Verde, FL

Overview
If you want to spend some time on a beautiful pristine island paradise, the ferry to Egmont Key State Park from Fort De Soto is a great choice for you and your family! Get ready for a day of fun in the sun with Hubbard’s Marina. The ferry ride to the island is about 25-30 minutes and offers great chances to spot dolphins, sea turtles, and sometimes even manatees! We often spot sea birds on the ride to and from Egmont Key Island aboard the Hubbard’s Ferry, our big blue boat.

Once on the island, Egmont Key offers great shelling, swimming, and opportunities for adventures. Including Fort Dade, a fort that dates back to the Spanish American war for to explore. Egmont Key is also home to a large population of endangered native gopher tortoises!

Be sure to pack like you’re spending the day at the beach! Bring sunscreen, towels, bathing suits, protective hats, shirts. Egmont Key is a pristine island so come prepared with a cooler full of water, food and drinks.

Exploring Egmont Key is delightful. The beach is outstanding and the history interesting. Riding Hubbards Ferry to the Key was a great experience. Hubbards does a great job with communication about the trip. Both office staff and ferry staff were very accommodating.

My husband & I took the Hubbard Ferry to Egmont Key on Feb 10, 2021. Clear skies, warm sunny day & very calm seas were welcomed! The gentleman helping us at check in was friendly & gave us an orientation to the Key with recommendations on how to make the most of our time there. The ferry crew, Art & Zip were friendly, funny & informative. They taught us some important military history of the Key. We saw a couple interesting gopher tortoises and walked the old brick military roads & enjoyed reading more history on the well placed signs. We really were fascinated with the significant history & of course enjoyed the relaxing ferry ride. I would definitely suggest taking this tour!

We took the ferry that sails from Fort De Soto to Egmont Key. Captain Art and First Mate Tony were great! Even though it was not a dolphin cruise, they turned the boat a couple times so everyone on board could see the dolphins! Everyone was so excited to see them and the kids just loved it!! Egmont Key was beautiful. We learned a lot of history and the kids found some great shells along the shoreline. We highly recommend this trip!
