Not what we hoped. Done this as a day tour from Port Lauderdale. First we went into the Gaitor Show - not our thing...did not enjoy and oh boy did it smell. Next was the airboat ride.. the first thrill of air boating in the everglades wears off pretty quick and then your just stuck in an air boat on hard uncomfortable seats listening to tales from the boat driver. It was a cold day with some showers so perhaps thats why there was not much to see and the boat driver resorted to throwing his crisps on the roof of the airboat to attract birds. Be warned throughout the time your here you are being asked for tips which actually feels more like begging.

The first time I did an airboat ride on the Everglades was outside of Orlando and that company had a captain that knew the glades. He knew where the mama crocks and their nests where and this time the captain knew lots of facts but we spent most of the time in the man made canal and not on the glades. He wasn’t able to direct us to a good viewing spot for gators and we only saw a couple birds and a lizard. He cut our time short by at least 15 minutes and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. We did get to pet a baby gator in captivity which was a plus.

Captain Baby Face was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about seeing as much wildlife as possible. He was very friendly with the animals, and birds flew right up to him. We got lucky and even saw 2 gators, but regardless it was an awesome day on on the water! Kevin Pavlidis was very talented and respectful of the gators during the show. At the end, he shared with the crowd where his passion for the gators came from. There was easy round-trip bus transportation to and from Holiday Park from South Beach.
