An excellent excursion covering all aspects of the Everglades with a knowledgeable guide. A really great experience and well worth doing. Highly recommend.

It was a full day, but we covered a lot of ground. With two boat rides, a short stroll, and a nature walk, we were satisfied that we got a good sense of the Everglades and Big Cypress National Preserve. Guide Julio was excellent, and the logistics worked smoothly.

What a terrific day! Julio picked us up at our hotel and we drove straight to the Everglades for our airboat tour. Robert, our airboat captain, was raised among the Everglades islands and was very knowledgeable. He took us to an island where the Muscogee lived. He was able to describe their lifestyle and the animals living in the glades. He found a couple of alligators for us to see and even some babies! Then a nice walk on a boardwalk within the Big Cypress Nature Preserve with Julio pointing out wildlife and orchids. Julio did a great job of pointing out wildlife as we drove to the various stops also. Lunch at a small cafe in Everglades City was very good and then we were off to our boat ride to the Gulf. Christian, a 9th generation member of a family that had lived on the mangrove islands, was a very informative guide and took us into the mangroves looking for manatees, unfortunately the manatees were shy but he was able to induce some dolphins into playing with us which was a lot of fun. We saw lots of birds, including three rare spoonbills. After our boat ride it was time to head back to Ft. Lauderdale. Julio did a great job navigating the monsoon that hit as we were driving. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in the real Everglades and the major ecosystems in Florida. As a bonus there were only 4 of us so we got lots of time to ask any questions we had!
