If you want a taste of the Everglades this is the trip for you. We were picked up at our hotel at 7:30 in the morning and dropped off at 5:30pm. The host apologized that it was a full tour (we had 13 in our party... it was not crowded). We went on two walking tours, neither of which was high stress (the longest about a mile RT on a raised boardwalk over an alligator hole'. The guide explained plants and helped spot for wildlife. We saw alligators in numerous locations, along with plenty of variety in birds. We went all the way across from Miami to Everglade City, where we went on an hour high speed boat tour of 10,000 islands. These islands are the southern end of Florida in that region and more of a gulf experience that a traditional Everglades experience. I could have spent the whole day doing that one. We had dolphins play and race with us, we saw a small beach crowded with white pelican. On the way back we stopped at the reservation in the middle of the Everglades for an hour tour of the marshlands. We settled adjacent to an alligator nest with baby alligators coming in and out with mama alligator on the other side of the airboat. We visited native islands (now recreation areas for the tribe). The guide was disappointed that we didn't see any manatee on this particular trip. PS January is the best time to go. I've been in August. We had no problems with insects.

I took this tour with my nephew and it was AMAZING! I took the same tour 6 months ago with another nephew and enjoyed it just as much the second time around. Each tour guide brings their own unique perspective and knowledge to the day - I was presently surprised that the 2nd time was just as good as the first. Our tour guide this time around, Mark, was passionate about conservation and about enjoying the planet we inhabit. His extensive knowledge and deep enthusiasm made the day unforgettable!
