Overview

I (Captain Matt) along with my crew member take our guests out for an incredible experience on the waters in and around Sitka Sound viewing the breathtaking scenery and enjoying diverse wildlife encounters! You may see many if not all of the following wildlife, Humpback whales, Sea Lions, Sea Otters, Harbor Seals, Ravens, Bald eagles, shearwaters, cormorants, 2 types of puffins, and many other sea birds too numerous to mention.

Bears are regularly viewed in the late summer early fall, and occasionally viewed in the spring.

As I have had a long career commercial fishing in Southeast Alaska, I give unique insight into the local fishing industry. Both my crew and I will also enlighten you on local history and life in Sitka.

To ensure your experience is genuine, my crew is always either one of my family, or a local hire that truly knows Sitka. We live it year round!!

What To Expect

Sitka

Cruise the waters of Beautiful Sitka Sound, and the outer coastline of Baranof Island viewing Sea Lions, Sea Otters, Harbor seals, Humpback Whales, possibly Orcas, Bald Eagles, and a vast variety of sea birds. Many times all in one tour.

Matt & his first mate Cat made it a great day. Both were very knowledgeable about the area and the sea life. They supplied nice binoculars and we saw whales, sea lions, harbor seals, puffin, sea otters, and lots of birds. St. Lazaria Wildlife Refuge was a real treat! Cool island and amazing viewing of birds and sea stars, urchins etc.

Highly recommend this tour with Captain Matt! Everything from booking the tour to getting dropped off at the cruise terminal after our tour was wonderful! Captain Matt and his first mate were very knowledgeable and answered all of our question. We saw orcas, sea lions, sea otters, humpback whales, puffins and bald eagles. We had 16 people in our party and everyone from 3 years old to 67 years old had such a great time. We are still talking about it. What an incredible experience!
