Experience Local Marine Wildlife Tour

Overview

I (Captain Matt) along with my crew member take our guests out for an incredible experience on the waters in and around Sitka Sound viewing the breathtaking scenery and enjoying diverse wildlife encounters! You may see many if not all of the following wildlife, Humpback whales, Sea Lions, Sea Otters, Harbor Seals, Ravens, Bald eagles, shearwaters, cormorants, 2 types of puffins, and many other sea birds too numerous to mention.

Bears are regularly viewed in the late summer early fall, and occasionally viewed in the spring.

As I have had a long career commercial fishing in Southeast Alaska, I give unique insight into the local fishing industry. Both my crew and I will also enlighten you on local history and life in Sitka.

To ensure your experience is genuine, my crew is always either one of my family, or a local hire that truly knows Sitka. We live it year round!!

What To Expect

Sitka

Cruise the waters of Beautiful Sitka Sound, and the outer coastline of Baranof Island viewing Sea Lions, Sea Otters, Harbor seals, Humpback Whales, possibly Orcas, Bald Eagles, and a vast variety of sea birds. Many times all in one tour.

We had such a great time on the Sea Piper with Captain Matt and his daughter! And freshly brewed coffee plus a clean and warm bathroom. Also, Matt made certain that we saw all the different wildlife from sea lions, otters, humpback whales, gray whales, bald eagles, and even bears with her two cubs on shore. There were even binoculars for everyone to use and wildlife booklets. He really knew where to go and was very knowledgeable too. Thank you Captain Matt!
