So there are a bunch of trolley tours to choose from in Savannah. They all drive by a bunch of places, and some advertise that you will see this many or that many historic places. Honestly Savannah is so full of historical places that once you have seen about a dozen of time in rapid sequence, you won't be able to keep them all straight anyway and would need to go to re-visit them individually to get any feel for them. And this is where Gray Line makes itself the tour service you should pick. Actually I will acknowledge that I don't know that other tours don't offer this, but you could ask. Anyway, the tour sent a shuttle to pick us up at our hotel, and we had a very pleasant 1.5 hour tour with Big Scott, who was wonderfully friendly and personable. It happened that we were the only ones on the entire trolley that day. Big Scott learned early on that I was interested in taking photos from the trolley, so volunteered to roll up all the window coverings to improve the view, and he made sure to point out the best photo taking opportunities as we went by. After the tour, the tour service will provide shuttle service between any of the tour stops that you want to go back to re-visit, so there are eleven possible stops, plus picking you up and dropping you off at your hotel at the end of the day. And you have this wonderful shuttle service for the rest of that day plus the next day. Any time you're ready to be picked up and taken to another stop, you call the tour's central dispatcher and the shuttle gets sent to fetch you. We only had to wait five minutes for the shuttle most of the time. The only time there was a substantial wait was unfortunately the day that we were trying to get to Mrs. Wilkes' House before the lunch service was closed at 2 PM. We squeaked in just at closing time. The bonus of this was that getting there just as the kitchen was closing meant that we ended up with a pile of extra food that they were probably getting rid of. So even the shuttle driver inadvertently did us a favor then as well. So assuming that every other trolley tour is not offering the shuttle service, this one is the winner, hands down. And actually, at $27 per person, it was even less expensive than the other tours we were considering.
