Savannah’s Historic District encompasses more than 20 city squares laid out in a distinctive grid pattern by General James E. Oglethorpe, founder of the British Colony of Georgia in 1733

Chippewa Square

Chippewa Square is named for an event on the northern border with Canada. In the Battle of Chippewa, in 1814, American forces emerged victorious over the British near Niagara Falls, and when Chippewa Square was built in 1815.

The trolley tour was both entertaining and informative. A completely enjoyable experience hosted by our guide, Ben, who hails from the great state of Georgia. I was amazed at the intersection of Savannah with so many points of American history, literature, and cinema. I would highly recommend this experience. Ask for Ben! (his real name)

We were visiting in the uncertain times of COVID and we caught the last trolley tour at 4:30pm. We were the only couple on the trolley with “Big Scott” - the most affable and knowledgeable tour guide I have had in a long time. Scott took us on a 90 minute narrated tour around the historic district in Savannah and even to the Victorian section and Scadlandia section of this beautiful southern city. He regaled us with witty stories and historical facts, recommended several fabulous places to go to later- and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour. PLUS our ticket included the next day FREE for unlimited rides around the city. A great trip in Savannah and the guide was absolutely fabulous!!

Highly recommend! Do this tour the first morning you have to get a lay of the land. It’s a 90 minute tour with no stops. Then at the end, the driver asks which stop you want to go back to and exit the trolley. You are driven there and then you have all day to get picked up and dropped off at any one of the 12+ stops. We highly doubted the unlimited shuttle service, but it was great. We would call and then get picked up within 10 minutes. This worked out perfect. In terms of social distancing and Covid precautions, mask on at all times while on the trolley or shuttle. We took the first tour and was picked up at 9am from our hotel to get the 9:30 trolley. There were only two other people on the tour with us. Shuttle pick up we were also the only 2 on the shuttle bus as well when we used it. Don’t be a skeptic. This is everything it says. Would tell anyone and everyone to do this. The price is unbelievable for what you get!
