Fire in the Valley- Carnegie Steel and the Town That Built America

Overview
Pittsburgh's Steel Valley along the Monongahela River made the steel which built America and fueled the Arsenal of Democracy for two World Wars. It was also the site of the Battle of Homestead 9 July 1892, the most consequential armed confrontation between workers and company-employed strikebreakers in American History.

My family really enjoyed this tour. My boys asked tons of questions and George gave them bits of history each time. This made the tour for us, because we have had bad experiences in the past with sarcastic answers or nonsense after numerous questions. Not a problem here! The guide knew his stuff and explained why things happened. The tour was done in the guides vehicle. It was nice to look at things without having to drive or navigate! You don't actually go into a mill. Most have been torn down. You are taken around to different sites and given history lesson about what was there. Tour takes you over/throw multiple bridges and tunnels and each has a story. Drive by many beautiful Churches and through Carnegie's planned city. History lovers paradise.

George has an immense knowledge of the history of Pittsburgh and an enjoyable way of presenting all he knows. He was able to accommodate a group of bigger than 4. Would recommend to anyone (local or from out of town).

4 of us thoroughly enjoyed all the information George shared with us! George had been our guide a couple of years ago so we were very excited for him to be our guide again!! If youā€™re looking for a couple of hours to fill with interesting facts and a good time, this tour and George will fill the bill!
