Took the back country boat tour on our first visit to Flamingo in Everglades National Park. Reported to the Flamingo marina to check in approximately 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure. We purchased our tickets online. Store in marina convenient for acquisition of last minute needs for trip, e.g., bug spray, water, sunscreen, sunglasses, or rain gear…provided you didn’t bring. Trip was 1.5 hours round trip. Guide did excellent job narrating along the tour and captain was quite professional in his navigation of the boat. An effort was put forth to locate and identify wildlife and native vegetation growing along the banks of the canal traversed. Stops were made to allow for photos of those sightings. It was a very comfortable trip that traversed many miles at slow and high speeds. This is a must do activity if you stop at Flamingo while visiting the Everglades National Park.

We went spontaneously by car to Flamingo and decided to take a boat tour. Small group, pleasant boat and very detailed explanations from guides from the national park. Normal boat, as airboats are prohibited in the NP. also any touching of animals is prohibited and absolutely right so!

The guides, who live in the Everglades themselves, are very nice and tell you a lot about the flora and fauna in the Everglades without seeming "touristy". You can travel through the Everglades in small groups on a quiet boat and look at the different plants and birds from the water. It was a really nice and exciting tour!
