We arrived and the guide (woman) was very business, no real engagement with the exception of a more robotic delivery of the instructions. The night was windy and that was not their fault but it made the steering and paddling difficult at various times. During instructions prior to getting in the boat the guide told us that the algae thrives in 75 degree or warmer water and we were a bit early in the season to see much. At that point combined with the wind we should have canceled but per all other reviews that we now read they would not credit anyway. However why sell a tour under false pretense when it is clearly off season. We were with 13 year old twin boys and it was as if we were in a horror movie floating in a clear plastic kayak in complete darkness with wind making it difficult to steer. The sky was stunning though. During the start of the tour my flashlight didn’t work and when Instated that a few times with no response I realized I was simply being ignored. The same went for my husband with his chair in the kayak… he was literally sitting in the boat because the chair was not fitted correctly and again he too was ignored when repeatedly frustrated with the issue. It was as if they were told not to acknowledge or it was so commonplace that they just cannot assist. We were told some great facts about manatees and the destruction of their feeding source, unfortunate starvation due to this, and other environmental insight. We held jellyfish that were bioluminescent when touched… but aside from that nothing lit up as we hoped again because it is too cold and clearly not the time of year to offer this package. The woman doing the tour was again robotic while on the boat and prior with instructions but after was more chatty - either she is all business for safety and more relaxed post tour… or hoping for a tip.

Hello, We're sorry to hear of your experience! Sometimes people don't read the description of of tours and book expecting to see things not in the season, in the season they're in, and that's fine, I don't use my blinker sometimes, we're practically related 😊. Since you booked a bioluminescent tour with us in March, you would have read that that is Bioluminescent COMB-JELLYFISH season and NOT DINOFLAGELATTE PLANKTON season which would by itself explain why you didn't see much dinoflagellate plankton in the water, but, it sounds like you did hold a BIOLUMINESCENT COMB JELLY FISH (as advertised), and that is really what is important when it comes to things like this. We are glad you were able to help us identify the issue by our explaining where your issue was, this helps us clear up any possibility of a misleading issue we may have in our end. It sounds like we're still good tho.. In regards to Aerin, (your guides name) she is mentioned quite extensively for her knowledge and overall guide experience. Sometimes guests don't mention names because their numerous previous excellent reviews take credibility away from their negatively angled review 🤷🏽‍♂️. Safety is always no-nonsense and we don't want to give the impression of being nonchalant when safety oriention is about to take place, our guides safety is just as important as any guests, so we tend to relay the situation by taking it seriously. Once that's out of the way then it's back to having a good time.. Your gratuity is appreciated, but never expected. Our guides aren't animals, they don't work for your handouts, they appreciate the recognition for the excellent job they do and it's your choice to do so, but these are collage educated instructors who work hard, honest, jobs for a living. We appreciate you paddling with us. We could have explained this to you over the phone so you could've heard a gentle person explaining this, instead of reading it and putting your own voice to it.. Have a great day! 😊

We went out for night kayak trip around Kiwanis island. February is a little early for bioluminescencent algae but it was till present and active. Our guide Erin was knowledgeable and made the whole trip very safe. Overall it was a great learning experience if you not to familiar with Florida’s natural side.

Erin was THE GREATEST!! We’ve learned so much with her about conservation of the ecosystem and all the wildlife. We need more persons like Erin, she’s so knowledgeable about the area and the biodiversity of cocoa beach. We need more people like Erin to save our planet! Thanks so much!
