Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio
In 1889 Wright completed the construction of a small two-story residence in Oak Park on the Western edges of Chicago. The building was the first over which Wright exerted complete artistic control. Designed as a home for his family, the Oak Park residence was a site of experimentation for the young architect during the twenty-year period he lived there. Wright revised the design of the building multiple times, continually refining ideas that would shape his work for decades to come.

Finally got to see where FLW began his journey. The tour guide was very knowledgable and patient with our many questions. While we were there,we had to hole up in the basement due to a tornado watch..another memorable experience.

The FLW center accommodated us and we were able to take the tour, but the sign in was very confusing. They had never heard of Viator.

The tour was great, the house was unique and the guide was informative. However, be cautious booking with Viator. I was told there were openings for the tour at 11 and to redeem my tix when we got there. We showed up and it was sold out! They had no booking for us and the only proof I had was my email. They were able to fit us in, but did state they have had problems with this company before booking tours that were not available. Although it worked out in the end, it was unsettling to drive 90 min and initially be turned away for a tour you paid $108 for in advance. I highly suggest booking thru the actual FLW tour company to be guaranteed your tix.
