It was our first full day in New Orleans and such a good way to start the trip. My husband and I formed the group and our docent, Glennis was relaxed and so well versed in the history of the city. We walked through the French Quarter at a gentle pace listening to the colourful stories of the people and places, and in the days that followed, went back to some of the museums that she had pointed out to explore them more fully. I would highly recommend Friends of the Cabildo and Glennis in particular for a great first day in The Big Easy.

We went into the 1850 house museum and saw the tour advertised. It was a really good tour made all the more enjoyable due to the knowledge of the tour guide who had lived all of his life in the city. He had so many interesting stories about various people and parts of the city and we found out a great deal of the history of the city. He also pointed out lots of features on buildings which we would never have noticed ourselves. We were also given free entry to the 1850 house museum which is also worth a visit. All in all, this is a very good way to learn about the city and its history.

We live in New Orleans and sometimes like to be tourists in our own town. We enjoy taking the French Quarter Walking Tour, especially when we have guests. The volunteer tour guides are required to be knowledgeable of New Orleans history. They take great pride in the city and want others to appreciate the history and architecture of the French Quarter. This is a real family value for the price. Pam was our tour guide. We highly recommend Pam, but have enjoyed guided tours by several different volunteers.
