Today I took the 2-hour walking tour by The Friends of the Cabildo from the 1850 House in the Upper Pontalba building. This was my third time on this tour, each with a different guide. All three guides were very knowledgeable and professional. They were comfortable answering questions and very pleasant. Although the tour is two hours long, it's at a comfortable pace-- no bathroom or drink breaks, so be prepared. It is currently $15 per person, plus any tip you might offer. The times are at 10:00 am and 1:30 pm. You will not be disappointed!

Very enjoyable and informative walking tour around the French Quarter. Good way to learn more about NOLA history in general and French Quarter history in particular. This is a nice way to get started in NOLA.

The friends of the Cabildo take their profits and use it to purchase items necessary for the Cabildo, so the tours money goes to a very good cause. Robie (sp?) was our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about the French Quarter and very detailed, you can tell he takes great pride in his city. The guides are all volunteers here, so it is shocking at the quality level that they deliver. We walked a decent section of the quarter. He showed us the details of the buildings, talked about plagues, fires and a lot of the history on how New Orleans came to be.
