From Ma'alaea Harbor, Maui: Molokini Snorkeling Adventure Aboard Calypso

Overview
Explore the natural wonders of Molokini Crater, a volcanic islet 3 miles (4.8 km) off the coast of Maui, on this snorkeling tour from Maalaea. Surrounded by clear tropical waters, this extinct cone is home to many species of marine life, such as fish, sea urchins, sharks, manta rays, and coral. Molokini is a marine preserve, meaning nothing can be disturbed, keeping the island and underwater environment pristine. You'll also explore Turtle Town, and admire native birds. Two water slides, a glass bottom viewing room, and a "leap of faith" are also available if you don't want to snorkel or finish early. Breakfast, lunch, snacks, soda, and juice are included.

It is a bigger boat that they pack full, so there will be a lot of people. But a lot of boats go to the Molokini sight. The second sight was even better than the first for seeing turtles and fish. They were very helpful and got people in and out of the water quickly. Rental of wetsuits is a minimal 10USD and camera rental is 45USD.

We took the Molokini and Turtle Town snorkeling excursion with approximately 80 0ther people. The crew was friendly and helpful. They served a light breakfast and a decent lunch. Alcohol was available for purchase. Molokini was beautiful. The water was crystal clear and we saw many different tropical fish there. It was very windy on the day of our excursion with moderate sized waves, many of those who stayed aboard in lieu of snorkeling became seasick. Due to the waves, the visibility at Turtle Town was terrible so the captain took us to another location with somewhat better visibility. We encountered a couple of Humpback whales while motoring out to Molokini which was very cool. Now for the downside, if you are an experienced snorkeler, this is not the trip for you. There were too many people in the water with you, for safety reasons, the crew tried to keep everyone relatively together this however caused crowding in the water and my husband had his mask kicked off twice by unaware snorkelers and I was almost pushed into a rise of coral that just broke the waters surface by another unaware snorkeler. Also when a couple of sea turtles were spotted there was a mob like mentality by the inexperienced snorkelers who surrounded the turtle despite having been told that it is a Federal expense with a $10,000 fine for harassing the turtles. In short, the crew was fine. The boat and restrooms were clean. The food was ok. From a personal perspective, we will never book another large group excursion you get a way better experience in a smaller group setting.

This tour was amazing. The boat is new, clean and very spacious. I think it is one of the biggest boat in the harbor. All the crews were available to help and provided excellent service. The food was great. In addition to Molokini Snorkel, we also had a blast time with 2 slides and jumping off from 2nd deck. Highly recommended!!!
