There are a few options to choose from to explore the Road to Hana so you can experience the rainforest & its waterfalls, streams, fresh water ponds, bamboo forests & lush foliage, but there is only one company where the owners are actually a Native Hawaiian husband & wife team that were born & raised Hawaii. We pride ourselves in sharing the Hawaiian culture, history, & stories about Hawaii & what its like to live life here in the islands, while treating you like the VIP that you are! Our family history goes back 150 years & they still live in a little community out on the Road to Hana.While on tour we'll stop by our family's fruit stand that has been operating for 40 yrs & is the home of "the original banana bread." We'll cover the rigid & rugged terrain on the backside of Maui & travel where most visitors never see. Hot lunch & souvenir backpack included.

We will travel up Haleakala Highway and cruise through the towns of Pukalani -"Hole to Heaven," Kula - "Open Country," Keokea - "The Sound of White Caps," Kipahulu - "Fetch From Exhausted Gardens," Ulupalakua - "Breadfruit Ripened on the Back" and hear the stories and history of this side of Maui.

See one of Maui's massive "canyons" on the southern coast of the island.

Kipahulu

See the last lava flow from Mount Haleakala and see the valley that connects both volcanoes on Maui. Learn why Maui has been nicknamed the Valley Isle.

The tour no longer goes all the way around in reverse so we drove down and back up. We booked it because of this difference so it was a little disappointing to know that it didn't go in reverse. It's not the company's fault but it is what it is. This is a LONG day. Except for what I said above, we got the experience we paid for. This isn't for families with small children as we were in the van for 10 hours and there's not a lot of quiet time. Although we learned a lot about the island and culture, there was no relaxing silence as the guide talked the entire 10 hours. If that is something you're looking for, then this is for you but there are cheaper options if you are looking to just go down and back as that's what you'll end up doing with this company as well.

This is a must see tour with Hawaiian Style! Our driver was Everett and he was outstanding driver, host and was extremely knowledgeable with everything on the island. The owner Doug and another driver Mike were all nice and accommodating. These three comfortable luxurious mini busses were the way to go! They provided a nice breakfast, and lunch during the trip. As per another comment: Everett was our guide and he was an walking, talking Hawaiian Encyclopedia. It was an awesome experience my husband and I will never forget.

We had an excellent time during this tour. Doug and Tony from Hawaiian Style Tours did an excellent job making the attendees feel welcome and shared their experiences living in maui. You will enjoy the various stops along this reverse trip on the road to hana.
