We went on a full day Everglades tour with Don. This was definitely a "Wow" experience, exceeding our expectations in every way. Our family includes my wife and I, two teenage daughters, and our daughter Amy with Down syndrome who was turning 21 that week. We were skeptical at first on what Amy could really do on this trip. We went into the trip with the attitude of whatever she can do is gravy. Don was just fantastic with us. He was very easy going, flexible, and incredibly knowledgeable. We knew we were going to be trekking through mud as part of the trip, but we had been envisioning a well used trail. Trails, who needs trails? Don lead us out through the mud and knee deep water of the Everglades into a Cypress dome where we saw amazing plants, snakes, owls, and other interesting sites. And amazingly, Amy joyfully went right out there with us, laughing her way as she sloshed through the mud. That would have been enough to make the trip, but then we set off on kayaks through narrow channels. Don took Amy with him on his kayak. And again, she surprised us all by doing that with excitement, and even paddled giving Don a little rest. Thank you Don for making this such a great and memorable experience for Amy and our family!

This was the coolest experience EVER! Our tour guide was Don who was absolutely fabulous. His knowledge and kindness were top notch. It was an all day excursion with hiking and kayaking that was an experience that I will never forget. We were able to see gators, snakes, an owl and the overall beauty of the Everglades. It was so neat to get a first hand experience of the cypress domes where the gators and other wildlife live. 10 hours of pure enjoyment! Definitely worth the time and money.

We spent a perfect afternoon with Don, Garl's other guide. He has a PHD in Biology and is just an amazingly knowledgeable, interesting, great guy. We dropped in at the visitor's centre for a quick look at the highly concentrated bird life and alligator hangout there and then moved on to wad into a Cypress Dome, where we saw a wonderful ecosystem of flora and fauna, including Wood Storks, two Barred Owls, two resident alligators and an array of flowering bromeliad. incredible. Stopped briefly to look for Roseate Spoonbills, saw several in flight (a thrill), then on to the Nine Mile Pond canoe trail where we kayaked into the mangrove and saw more alligators, Florida Gar, Ibis, Wood Storks, Great White Herons, Kingfishers. Drifted back to the van after watching a beautiful sunset while enjoying a lovely chilled bottle of rosƩ. Took lots of great photos, learned so much about the ecosystems of the Everglades and about Don's research. We arrived back in Key Largo long after dark. Can't say enough about this tour. If you go take a camera, water shoes, sunhat, sunscreen (no bug repellent necessary in winter), everything else for the half day trip is supplied... they'll stop at a concession where you can pick up snacks. When we return to Florida we plan on doing the full day tour. Thanks Don!
