We had a great time on one of Garl's Coastal Kayaking trips through the mangroves of 9 mile pond in Everglades National Park. We were 3 moms with a 4/5 year old with us on each kayak on a 2 hour guided trip. The kids loved it! We couldn't believes how many alligators and crocodiles we saw! Garl was an excellent guide and I highly recommend taking a trip with him. Superb family fun!

I did Garl's everglades slog and kayak tour last year, and just last night had the opportunity to do his sunset paddle in Florida Bay leaving from Key Largo. What a great night! It was a beautiful peaceful evening, a nice relaxed paddle, and we saw lots of birds, fish, sea stars, and a few manatees. The slog with him last year is truly something I will never forget and I always recommend visitors try it as well! Yes, you'll get a little dirty, but it really is a glimpse into the true Everglades. Once you're in the swampy cyprus domes you can't even see the road or boardwalks anymore, it's just you and nature. We saw owls, tree frogs, rare orchids, snakes curled up taking a nap in the trees, gators of course, and on the kayak portion we saw a HUGE crocodile!! Whichever tour you choose, Garl is an incredibly knowledgeable guide. He has clearly been doing this for years and is excited to share it with you. I suppose next I'll have to do his everglades night walk! If you want to see the real Everglades or the real Florida Bay, this is the trip for you.

We spent all afternoon and evening walking and kayaking through the Everglades. Our guide, Garl, possesses a wealth of information on the ecosystem, the local animals, in the water and out. If you plan to spend the day walking through the cypress beds, bring your lunch and snacks and cameras. Garl will take your pictures and send you a cd, but you may want to take your own. He caters each trip to many different ability levels. We were there in February, cooler weather, but of course lower water levels. I would also consider hiring Garl to take you through in the summer when the water is high, it will be a different experience. Our trip was a once in a lifetime highlight.
