If you have not gone slogging through the water, between the cypress trees, orchids and bromeliads and experienced the nature of the landscape up close, then you have not been to the Everglades. Luckily, with Garl as our guide, we got within spitting distance wild aligators, crocs and snakes in their native habitat. Walking through the water of the swamp is not something we would have done on our own, which makes us glad that this trip is offered, even when the Ranger-led slogging tours have ended. Garl is a fund of knowledge in the area and its inhabitants. The takeoff location on the East side of the Everglades is a plus, since it appears most other companies are based in Everglades City which was a bit out of our way. Would repeat the experience in a heartbeat.

We spent the day with Garl and it was unbelievable! He showed us a side of the Everglades that I never imagined exisisted. Garl took the time to share with us his immense knowledge and gave us a whole new perspective on the gem that the Everglades is. We will definitely repeat this tour as there is no way to absorb it all the first (or second or third) time! You will get a little muddy and sweaty, but you wonā€™t even notice because all your attention will be on the beautiful fauna and wildlife. Absolutely captivating.

Perfectly paced adventure trip through the Everglades with three major stops to slog through cypress swamp and kayak through the mangroves and out into the Ten Thousand Islands for close-up views of wildlife (gators, crocodiles, birds, turtles), plants (cypress, orchids, bromeliads, etc.), sunset sky, ibis and spoonbills coming in to roost. Garl is a well-organized, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable guide who made the trip a good balance of adventure, relaxation, and nature study/appreciation. Highly recommended for something quite special while in this area! We are a couple in our early 70s and the other couple looked to be in their 20s also enjoying the tour. A big bonus: Garl took many photos which he shared with us after the trip.
