Full-Day Tour: Concord Waterfall, Chocolate Factory, Rum Distillery, Grand Etang

Overview
This remarkable full-day tour, showing you the very best of Grenada in a day. See St. George's, the prettiest capital town in the Caribbean. Travel up the western coast and visit the picturesque Concord Waterfalls nestled in the lush mountains where you can be refreshed by swimming in the cool water. Visit the fishing town of Gouyave and the spice processing station, where you will see why our island is called the "Isle of Spice" then continue to the Diamond chocolate factory to taste and learn how chocolate is made. Have lunch at an authentic Grenadian restaurant, before heading to the Caribbean's oldest functional water-powered distillery before tasting its potent rum. The tour would not be complete without a visit to Grenada's interior and largest national park, to see the Grand Etang Lake and rainforest.

I chose to take this tour as a medical student at St. George's University after completing my first term in order to see the island. My tour was booked with Henry Safari Tours and my tour guide was Michael. I was picked up at the gates of the school and there was only a couple on vacation that were part of the tour. The tour guide, Michael, was very knowledgeable and very friendly. He made additional stops and would pull over to the side of the road to show us other sites as well as to give background history and facts. As a tour group, we decided to end the tour with the Concord Waterfall in order to cool off after a day of touring. We started with Grand Etang where we did encounter monkeys, which are more often out during the morning. I was able to have them jump on my shoulders and climb on my arms which was a wonderful experience. We then went to the rum distillery and learned how rum is made. Afterwards we enjoyed lunch with a beautiful view followed by the chocolate factory. The tour ended with the Concord Waterfall. An additional stop was made during the tour at a Nutmeg Factory, a historic airport and we enjoyed exquisite views of Fort George and Carenage from a distance. This tour is an excellent way to see the island of Grenada and if you have Michael you will learn a lot of facts about each of the towns that you pass through. He is a very thorough tour guide. It definitely exceeded my expectations and I would do it again!

Our tour guide Michael was brilliant- very knowledgeable and entertaining! This tour gave us a good idea of the highlights of Grenada but Michael’s stories also brought the island and it’s people to life. We were entertained from start to finish with stories about the people, the history and the language all done with hunour

The full-day tour with Henry Safari Tours was absolutely fantastic. Rawle Belle was our driver and guide, and this guy knows his stuff: He had an incredible knowledge of the island's history, geography, geology, plant- and animal-life, and people. His stories and explanations were absolutely fascinating. We were picked up from our resort right on time, and the tour is everything it's advertised to be - and more. Swimming and jumping at Concord Falls is a must-do. Be sure to talk to the security guard there so he can show you exactly where to jump. Just bring a swim suit and a towel. The rum factory was incredible, and the chocolate & nutmeg tours were simply amazing (everything is done by hand as it was in the 1700's). If you visit Grenada and don't do this tour, you're really missing out - highly recommended!!
