We went to MOSI yesterday, 8/11/18 with our 3 grand kids ages 6, 11, and 13. We took the 11 and 13 year old there 3 years ago. This was our experience. The Be the Astronaut exhibit, well, left a lot to be desired. The 6 year old couldn't handle the joy stick and couldn't read the screens. The volume on the machines was so low that he couldn't hear what was being said. The 11 and 13 year old figured out that all the sit in machines were the same and they became bored in just a few minutes. The felt the little land rover games were very juvenile. We spent a total of about 15 minutes in there. So it was on to the kids area and all the activities offered there. That hadn't changed much except a lot of the activities had been removed. The acitivities that remained a lot of them were broke or had pieces missing. Most of what was left were exhibits. A lot of the exhibits had little interaction. The Connectus exhibit was informative, but geared more towards the adult visitors as it was just that, informative. No awesome activities. Until the 13 year old found the Lego building activity, he was completely bored. He built a car that was motorized and all the moving parts made it go. Final stop was the planetarium. Last time we were here it was AWESOME! The narrator/presenter started off with a bang, showing us stars and constellations. We actually got to see all of the constellations one at a time, and in the end, he lit up the night with all of them outlined with their figures. The show only lasted 45 minutes, but WOW, it was amazing. This time we had Charlie. Now charlie appeared to be a teacher and we just got a 7th grade lecture on the earth, the planets, and a couple of constellations. He started out with a 20 minute movie about the solar system. A man 2 seats over from me was snoring before it was over. I was almost asleep, and all 3 kids were about ready to leave when finally, it was over. Charlie proceeded to show us the Milky Way and the Tampa Bay evening sky. He made sure that we saw all of the planets view-able in the evening, and some in the early morning. He proceeded to show us Scorpius, but never overlaid the scorpion image. He used a laser pointer to point out the figure, which the kids were totally lost and we had a hard time seeing it as well. He then showed us Orion and Orion's belt. He pointed out the 7 sisters chased by Orion and then all of a sudden the sun came up in the room and the show was over. We looked forward to seeing all of the constellations but only saw the few. I was hoping the kids would get to see the Big Dipper and the North Star so they would always know which way was north. Last time we were here we raved about it to our friends and several went just to see it. Now, I cannot honestly recommend Mosi or the Planetarium to anyone. All of us were disappointed in the show. We won't be coming back.

Figuring school was out and school trips were done for the summer, my wife and I (both seniors) decided to try MOSI as a day trip. I guess I should have known something was up when we couldn't buy two senior tickets. We were only allowed to purchase 1 adult and 1 senior( I guess 1 of us needed adult supervision). Upon entering, we thought we were attending a playground outing for kindergarden children. Groups of young children running wild all over the building. Groups of 15 or twenty with only 1 or 2 adults. Manners were non-existent. Pushing in front of adults and each other at exhibits, drinking fountains, doorways, etc. There are so many things for the children to learn at MOSI, we felt sorry for the children because they had no one to teach them. We observed, supposed chaperones, sitting in a corner texting and having a gab fest. As a suggestion, maybe the MOSI officials could limit the number of children per adult. We regret that we will not be back to MOSI any time soon, because I'm sure there are multiple things for a senior to learn also. Maybe a different day, or when the younger children are back in school and the older children have their own day.

Great place to bring your kids. We spent the most time in the human body exhibit. Wanted to see more of the IMAX movies, but didn't have time to do it all and see all the displays in detail.
The cafe was pretty good too, they had a mac and cheese bar that my husband enjoyed.
