Geneva Lake Shore Path: Uncover 21 miles of stories on a self-guided audio tour

Overview
The shore path has been an integral part of life on Geneva Lake for hundreds of years – and because it’s rich in history and uniquely accessible to the public, there are 21 miles of stories along it. Let me share my favorites with you on this self-guided GPS walk.

You'll find out how some of the owners of the incredible lakeshore estates made their fortunes and were able to build such magnificent homes. These titans of the beer, washing machine, chewing gum and even bicycle industries took refuge here after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, while the city was rebuilt, in the process they made Geneva Lake one of the Midwest’s favorite vacation destinations.

This tour covers the entire Geneva Lake Shore Path. You can start and end it at any point and come back to it as many times as you like. Whether you go for a long walk or a short one, there are plenty of restaurants and bars to relax at when you get back to one of the three lakeside towns.

We came here for the weekend and heard about how great the shore path walk is. We love history so we purchased the audio tour and It was so worth It. We learned so much about the history of the lake. And we did it on our schedule, too. We did two segments in two days. Highly recommend!

The voice recorded tour guide sucked...you never actually knew where you were...I paid for 2 and only one worked...frustrating all you see or saw are nice houses...could've took this walk by myself

Hi Nashonna, Thanks for the feedback. The code you received when you made the booking was — and still is — valid for two copies of the tour. The ticket you received said this, and we also sent you a confirmation message with this information. But if you couldn’t use the second copy for some reason, you shouldn’t have to pay for it, and we’ve processed a refund. The app does know where you are, but your feedback has highlighted something about our user interface that does make this tour confusing. If you end the tour and then use the Start button when you’re ready to restart it, you hear the introduction again — and this makes it seem as if the app doesn’t know where you are. The better option would have been to press Resume, which would have started from the nearest location to you. It affects this tour in particular because unlike most VoiceMap tours, the Lakeshore Path audio guide doesn’t follow a set route. It's designed so you can start it at any point along the path and go in any direction you choose. We’re updating the tour to make this more clear.
