Germaine's Luau

Overview
The highlight of the show is the Samoan Fire-knife dance, known as the "Tooth of Death". In the original interpretation, this dance was performed with a dangerously sharp blade.

The story behind the dance is of a Samoan chief making a movie for Hollywood many years ago. He decided to include the flaming torch in his part to make the dance more spectacular.

The show also includes the energetic Samoan Slap Dance, a traditional display of male prowess. True to the name, the dancers slap their chests, arms and legs repeatedly throughout this segment. For Samoan men, this was an opportunity to demonstrate their bravery and courage.

This was our first luau and it was an awesome show & dinner. Highly recommend. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We even met the fire dancer & got our picture taken with him.

We paid approximately $200 dollars each for this experience so I was expecting something spectacular but in reality it was underwhelming. The bus was 30 mins late so we were just stood on the pavement in the hot sun waiting. It was an hour trip to get there in rush hour on a rammed bus, nowhere near Waikiki. The setting is okay, nice beach front once youā€™ve travelled through an industrial estate. Wooden picnic tables were fine for us but you are sat down a lot and my back did start to hurt. Food was actually really good and plentiful which was probably the best part. The show itself was just a bit dull. It felt like the whole audience felt this too as the host of the show kept trying to encourage us to make noise and get involved but nobody was really interested. It was about 30 minutes long and the dancers were amazing but it was all a little underwhelming over all for the amount weā€™d paid. Also we booked the original package, but once youā€™re in, nobody is policing this as to where you sit etc so donā€™t pay the extra money to go VIP itā€™s not worth it as once youā€™re in itā€™s a free for all anyway.

Aloha, Thank you for your review, we read each review carefully. On behalf of Germaines we are very sorry that your time with us wasn't an experience you hoped for. Unfortunately we are about 45 minutes away on the beautiful west side of Oahu from Waikiki depending on traffic. I will be forwarding this to our Management team for further review. We hope to make it better & serve you better. Mahalo, Germaines Luau

It was OK but the food was mostly cold .. the drinks were tiny and the luau at Polynesian Center has an all day all inclusive package for the same price.
